Installation Instructions

Running-In New Brake Pads

The correct way of running-in newly installed brake pads is the prerequisite for their long lifetime and for a reliable braking effect of the bike brakes. If possible, do not provide your motorbike with new brake wheels during running-in new brake pads.

Cleaning of the brake wheels using abrasive paper is recommended in case of their previous use with another lining material. After the installation of the brake pads, their fitting must be free and without excessive clamping in the brake mount.

Having revved up your bike, brake several times at lower speeds to achieve a contact surface of 80 to 90 per cent of the total area of the active brake pad surface between the brake wheel and the pads. Then brake the bike several times at higher speeds and allow the brake pad lining to get cooled while driving. After this running-in procedure, the brake pads may be normally used.
