Installation Instructions

• Verify the correct selection of the brake pads at the dealer's in accordance with the bike type and manufacturing year of your bike.
• Replace the brake pads as soon as the braking surface thickness has dropped below 2 mm.
• Protect the brake pad surfaces against grease, oil and other chemical substances.
• Clean and degrease the brake wheels prior to installation of new brake pads.
• Replace damaged brake wheels reducing the braking effect and, at the same time, shortening the lifetime of the brake pads.
• Install the brake pads directing their braking surfaces towards the brake wheel. Having completed the installation, check correct mounting and securing of the pads.
• Entrust a specialized servicing shop with the installation of brake pads when lacking experience.
• Tested by the German Testing Institute TÜV.

Running-In New Brake Pads

The correct way of running-in newly installed brake pads is the prerequisite for their long lifetime and for a reliable braking effect of the bike brakes. If possible, do not provide your motorbike with new brake wheels during running-in new brake pads.

Cleaning of the brake wheels using abrasive paper is recommended in case of their previous use with another lining material. After the installation of the brake pads, their fitting must be free and without excessive clamping in the brake mount.

Having revved up your bike, brake several times at lower speeds to achieve a contact surface of 80 to 90 per cent of the total area of the active brake pad surface between the brake wheel and the pads. Then brake the bike several times at higher speeds and allow the brake pad lining to get cooled while driving. After this running-in procedure, the brake pads may be normally used.
